What is the best way of spray painting your own psp cover plate?
This concerns not just a psp, but many electronics with a shiny sleek surface.
Can I spray paint using stencil onto the body and then cover that with another clear layer spray paint or something so that the color would be permanent and not rub off?
In simple terms, Can i spray paint my psp and then cover that with a clear coat that would lock the color in? And if so, what kind of spray paint would I need? Thanks
yeah you can, just pop the cover off...
sand the whole thing with 800 grit sand paper ( gives a nice surface for the paint to stick to )
rub the whole thing down, wearing rubber gloves, with denatured alcohol ( cleans the surface ) You can get it at any home improvement store in the paint section.
paint with any grey primer ( krylon or whatever ) ... keep your coats light and hold the can about 8 inches away. Don't worry about covering the whole thing in one coat.
then spray whatever color spray paint. I usually paint with flat colors if I am covering with a clear coat, because the clear sticks to the flat better. And it's going to end up the clear's finish anyway.
then follow with a clear spray (again krylon or what ever, can pick gloss or satan )
If the finish is not perfect when your done you can buff it out with rubbing compound found in the automotive section. wet a rag, dip it in the compound, then rub the piece with light pressure. Wipe the excess compound off with a dry clean cloth before it dries.
Re-install electronic cover.
