Grand Theft Auto Vice City

Grand Theft Auto Vice City is the Rockstar Games release after Grand Theft Auto III, and the one prior to the release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This game is the second 3-D release, and the fourth release in the Grand Theft Auto series.
The game made its debut in the North American market in October 2002 for the PlayStation 2 platform. By April 2003, a version hit the United States market for Microsoft’s Xbox platform, as well. Soon after the American success of the game, other releases were made for the European, Australian, and Japanese markets. In addition to the PlayStation 2 release, a PC version of the game is also available.
Grand Theft Auto Vice City takes place in 1986, and the storyline revolves around a Mafia member by the name of Tony Vercetti. Vice City is closely based on Miami, FL. After a drug deal gone bad, Tony must go through the game finding information about who was involved, and what happened. Tony moves through the game taking over all the present crime organizations in an attempt to gain the information he needs. Of course, the plot is more intricate than that, but the entire game cannot be given away here, or else you would have no reason to play it!
Several different things influence the game, from Scarface, to Carlito’s Way, and even the television series from the 1980’s, Miami Vice. The game pays tribute and parodies much of the 1980’s pop culture. Many of the shops, vehicles, and other things you see as part of the setting in the game are reflective of life in Miami, FL during the 1980’s time period in which the game takes place.
Due to Grand Theft Auto Vice City’s sexual undertones and extreme violence, Grand Theft Auto Vice City has received much bad press, as with all the other games in the Grand Theft Auto Series. The controversial game play has led to some edits in a few versions of the game. Several lawsuits have been brought on against the game makers at Rock Star games for the actions of a few game players, being blamed on the fact that they played the Grand Theft Auto Vice city games so much that it caused them to take the murderous action toward police authorities, and to steal vehicles.
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories is a more recent Rock Star games release that serves as a prequel to the events in Vice City, where the Vice City storyline is revisited. While this is a great game in the Grand Theft Auto series, you definitely have to play all of them to understand its value.
